The Water Triple Point

The triple point of water is the most important defining thermometric fixed point used in the calibration of thermometers to the International Temperature Scale of 1990. It is the sole realizable defining fixed point common to the Kelvin Thermodynamic Temperature Scale (KTTS) and the ITS-90; the assigned value on these Scales is 273.16 K (0.01°C).
